And everyone else who was lucky enough to attend the Ultimate B2B Networking Expo, held at Source Warehouse on 250 Steelcase Rd. in Markham, ON. As you may already know, I have decided to spend my summer attending events that are outside of the box that I normally circulate in. This is for many reasons, including that I am CAN but also that my goals have changed…and by changed, I mean expanded. And what better way to get started, than locally?

The event was hosted by the fabulous Markham Board of Trade, who continually add to the fabric of the local business culture through exciting events, partnerships, and programs that it offers. Some of these include last night’s event (details below), The Mayor’s Annual Business Address and Luncheon, and an Annual Golf Day that offers three things that I live for (in equal measure):

  • Networking
  • Food
  • Prizes

The Ultimate B2B Networking Expo (which you just missed) on May 26th offered all of the above, in the form of prizes (like a HON Ergonomic Chair), gift certificates (like Visa gift cards! courtesy of Royal Bank), yummy appetizers, beverages and much more. Oh and it was also FREE to attend if you registered in advance, which is why it’s always a good idea to keep an eye on their website, because networking is a great path to opportunity!

The event was held in partnership with: MBT, ACCE, RHMCBA, Markham Executive Offices and Whiteboard Studio and offered great booths with information on programs and services offered to budding entrepreneurs from the Markham Small Business Centre and much more!

And now for the exciting news

I mentioned that prizes were given away last night…and now I will reveal that one of the lucky winners was yours truly! Yes, that’s right, I WON an ergonomic ball/chair (modeled below) from the experts at Humanscale, an award winning manufacturer of ergonomic products that improve health and comfort at work. And for what it’s worth, I will be taking my new chair everywhere with me…”no thanks, I’ve got my own seat”…check out MBOT President and CEO, Richard Cunningham and Erin Moraal, trying it out for size:

All in all, the event was a great way to spend the “cocktail hour” for any professional and/or entrepreneur in the area…all you gotta do is keep your eyes open for the next one!
