Of the 5,000 plus students within the Peel District School Board achieving grade 12 averages of 80%+; three proved that even 100% is possible. Sukhdeep Bhangal and Janani Navagnanavel of Harold M. Brathwaite Secondary School in Brampton and Yashan Chelliahpillai of Glenforest Secondary School in Mississauga make up the perfect scoring group.

Educators (and staff) at Glenforest, Harold M. Brathwaite and Mayfield secondary schools have reason to be proud. Having produced the perfect, and highest, scoring graduates from the 2017-18 academic year.

They are joined by the 5,000 students achieving Honours in their top six grade 12 courses on Ontario’s Top Scholar list.

Bhangal says, “having clear aims and objectives” helped her achieve the high marks and kept her “motivated to focus on tasks and work hard.”

“The time I invested in my learning plus the amazing support that I received from my family and teachers all helped me to continuously excel in my studies,” says Navagnanavel.

Both students are pursuing future careers in the field of medicine with Bhangal already accepted into the Medical Sciences program at the University of Western Ontario. Navagnanavel is starting at the University of Toronto – St. George campus in the Life Sciences program in September.

Chelliahpillai, who will also be going to Western for Medical Sciences advises next years grads to “strive to have a balance in your life. Stay confident and do not burn out.”
