Over 400 students will be welcomed to the Peel District School Board (PDSB) at a World of Welcome (WOW) one-day orientation seminar running from 28 Aug – 14 Sept.

The event is funded by the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) and aims to ease the transition for high school students (and their families) new to the country.

Seventeen schools will participate in the orientation program with 50 multilingual school settlement workers on hand. Students will be given a tour of their new school while meeting their classmates and learning about programs and services.

“The WOW orientation is a great opportunity for high school students, who are new to Peel region, to familiarize themselves with Ontario’s education system and school routines,” says Nala Moorthy, multicultural settlement and education partnership facilitator. “It provides them useful information and resources and connects them with other students and staff, so that they have a head start on their first day of school.”
