A statement issued today by York Regional Police (YRP) indicates that a man has been arrested in connection with the robbery of Ye Hong all-day breakfast stop on Kennedy and Steeles.

The incident took place Sunday, January 20th when a 49-year-old man and an accomplice (still at-large) barged into the restaurant carrying firearms. They then emptied the cash register and fled the scene via Kennedy Rd. South in a silver four-door Acura sedan.

The owner of the restaurant chased the suspects in his vehicle and was involved in a collision with the suspect vehicle. It turns out the suspects fled on foot, initially, and were chased down by the restaurant owner who then collided with their vehicle.

YRP’s canine unit was able to successfully track and locate one of the two men who was found barricaded in a port-a-loo. The police are asking for help in finding the second suspect, and can be reached anonymously at www.1800222tips.com.
