Over 2000 local residents turned out for Ward 2 Councillor, Alan Ho’s community barbecue, July 6th at Frisby Park. His 8th annual event ran in the early evening on one of the hottest days so far this summer, but that did not deter the staggering number of attendees from turning out.

Representatives of the Fengcai Senior Activity Centre were among the attendees, as were several local youth organizations. In addition to great food, the event included live music, traditional south and south east asian dance performances and certificate presentations to local groups and residents.

The most notable guest was Mayor Frank Scarpitti who joined in on all of the fun, including posing for pictures, singing a duet on stage, and addressing the crowd.

Councillor Ho followed up the event with the following message on his Facebook page:

“Thank you to the volunteers and community supporters for making my 8th Annual Community BBQ a success. Because of the good weather, we had over 1500 residents join in the festivities.”
